Aww, poor thing must be hungry grindle, are the seedlings salvageable? Having boasted that I'd got all my bulbs in before Christmas this year I found several pots of daffs. etc. under the potting bench in the greenhouse which I'd taken out of the baskets & containers last year! I hunted round for some decent plastic pots to pot them up in & dotted them round the patio, had to give up before I'd done them all though as my fingers froze.

I'm sorry to hear that grindle, how annoying ... I hope the mouse was grateful to have something to eat

not saveable SueA just little green stubs, it hasn't touched the spinach yet though Never mind Eli with all the cold weather it probably needed it I'll try and make it more mouseproof for next year, although field mice have a knack of getting in everywhere

I've been putting peanuts on the ground around the pots near our woodstore for the woodmouse grindle & it eats them every night - keeps it from digging my bulbs up & eating those instead!

I ventured out just before tea last night & potted up the last of the old bulbs I'd found in the greenhouse & had a look around the garden, some of the crocuses are out now & a few more snowdrops & hellebores, couldn't check the far end as it's still too muddy & slightly flooded. I was checking to see if there was any fox poop anywhere as it smelt very 'animally' in the garden the other morning as if she'd visited but didn't find anything.

Just feeding the birds this morning. I did however notice yesterday the daffodils are starting to poke through the soil now, and I've found a few snowdrops in flower too. Spring is on it's way, and the days are starting to get noticeably longer.....

Wrapped up well i was able to get out in the garden for a few hours today, first of all i weeded the veg plot then dug it all over and did the edgers, cleared lots of dead debri around apple stump. After our walk this afternoon decided to clear a lot of dead leaves of the Alstromaria that had been caught by the frost I felt so much better after being out side just for a few hours.

I was the same as you lesley, the sun was shining even though it was a bit cold but it did get to 20C on the thermometer on the patio & good to be out working in the fresh air! Went out & did a couple of hours of cutting back dead leaves etc. along the edges of the lawn & a bit of pruning on some of the roses & started to tackle around the pond just so that I could actually walk around it, still lots to do but the rain has flooded out the end of the garden again this morning so it will have to wait.

it will be nice to see just how many survive SueA I was surprised at the amount I got. I did some clearing up on the patio and started giving a wayward climbing rose a good prune
