Did more painting again yesterday sweetpea, I know it's your favourite job! I put a second coat on the cream trim on the shed, second coat on the trim & outside cream panels on the arbour, first on the cream interior & first on the wild thyme colour on the roof with the brush on a pole up the ladder again! Will put second coats on those today & then I'll have run out of paint. The shed could do with a coat of 'wild thyme' on the side with the door but I'll have to wait until I can get another tin.

I'm making the most of the fine weather so far this long weekend. Friday I lowered the lawnmower 2 steps, and gave the lawn a lower cut. Yesterday I potted on a few seedlings, and went over the vegetable patch a couple of times, and this afternoon I plan on planting a few dahlia's in pots in the greenhouse and a bit of weeding. I might leave my potato's another week or so as they aren't quite ready for planting, but it's all go in the garden and greenhouse here.

I started to build the frame for my home made polycarbonate greenhouse (after I found my saw ) Then I realised my cold frame that I moved was too low, so I carried some of the concrete blocks it sat on, down the garden so that I can put it on top of them again. I've got a few more to take some other day. I put some more shelves in my perspex shelter at the side of the garage, to hold some succulents that were still in the conservatory. I want them all down there for the summer.

Spent all day yesterday helping parent's in their garden. Dad has been removing the last of the Leylandii hedge they planted over 30 years ago and is now building brick piers between the future fence panels. Not bad for an 82 year old! Mum also working in front garden clearing part of a bed to be turfed. I'm in the back removing turf with my spade after having cut area with half moon. This is going to be a brick path 25 ft long and 3ft 6" wide. Managed to remove all the turf and trim to even thickness in about five hours. I can feel it this morning!

I managed to finish painting the roof & interior of the arbour & had just enough 'wild thyme' coloured paint for the job. I'm stiff myself this morning after stretching across with the paintbrush on a pole & traipsing up & down the ladders. We went for a walk around the local park & little stretch of river after & managed to spot one of the terrapins which lives there - they originally appeared years ago after people started abandoning them after the 'Ninja Turtle' craze ended & have managed to thrive:- This is the river, the terrapin is in the middle on the end of the log in the river This is the 'ninja turtle'

I wouldn't have thought terrapins could survive our winters SueA , but they obviously can ... How nice to see them And it looks bigger than I thought they'd be too.

All my seedlings have come through so far including the dahlias. That heat pad certainly makes a difference and with the pots inside a large plastic container it gives a good micro climate even when bitter cold outside.
