I walked down to Lidl & bought a few packs of bulbs & a tray of heathers & then mowed the lawn when I got back. I have to feed the robin in the garden now with a little dish of mealworms, he lands on my thumb or the edge of the dish & flies off back into the buddleia to eat, if I haven't been out for a chat with him he hops about on the patio staring in the window!

how lovely SueA cut back the bay tree where it had grown too much, also cut back some climbers that had finished. I decided as it was dry to fix the leak in the greenhouse roof, I'd bought some waterproof tape, climbed the ladder dried everything off, put the tape on and it didn't stick wasn't impressed, later looked at it again and realised there was a backing tape on it that had to come off it's now on the roof and hopefully has done the trick

Good job you didn't get as far as taking the tape back to complain before you realised grindle! I didn't do anything except feed & have a chat with the robin & then we went for a long walk in the afternoon around the local moss for about 3 hours! Some interesting things to see though as we have some pink footed geese visiting & what seems to be a lone whooper swan with them.

I'm glad you worked out how the tape worked grindle
I spent a lovely afternoon in the sunshine cutting back some roses and clematises.

I did feel daft though Did more in the greenhouse, took out the tomatoes, peppers and cucumber plants, put shelving back in washed inside and out and sorted bulbs that need planting. also put together my new hanging basket with miniature hostas, just need to top dress with gravel

Due to on going mobility issues ( hopefully not too permanent....I kid myself that I'm not ageing ) I am working on making the upkeep of our garden a little easier....well I hope! Removing plants that seem to be too needy or flop in our wind tunnel of a garden, also plants that are better at tolerating our changing climate too. That's the plan in theory...

That sounds like a good plan jellibeans, we all need to adapt to age & climate change eventually, even if we still think we're 30 & the seasons still work the way they used to! I haven't done anything other than feed the robin & water the seedlings etc. in the greenhouse. I got bitten & or stung by something on our walk up the moss on Saturday, I thought my finger had just brushed against a nettle at first but then a bump appeared & then swelling, taking antihistamine tablets & rubbing the cream on too as well as cold compresses. It's not gone down yet, knuckle swollen & it's itchy but I can still move my rings around so still have circulation but not very easy to use my left hand.

Ouch!! SueA that looks really painful! You're lucky your finger didn't swell to the extent that you had to cut your rings off. Sadly my original wedding ring had to be cut off when my whole finger reacted to something....still don't know what it was to this day.

That looks nasty SueA I hope it is healing for you.
I did some more cutting back in the parts I could get to, there's such a lot of things about my garden now that the builders are here.

Hope things improve for you jellibeans it's a good idea to scale down gardening, I really need a smaller one that's easier maintenance wise That looks painful SueA hope the antihistamine tablets clear it up soon Finished clearing the greenhouse, did a bit of deadheading and cut the grass, it's looking very tatty, I think I've missed the window for reseeding the bare patches, so will have to do it in the spring

Thanks all, the swelling has gone down a lot but still itchy & blistered, I was worried I'd have to have my rings cut off jellibeans, I don't know if I'll be able to get them off, no chance at the moment.

No don't attempt to Sue, best leave them on if it's not proving too uncomfortable.
