I thought i would start this thread, with a couple of exhibits from a Show i did in Knaresborough in 1995. This is the Show where i picked up my first dahlia medal a bronze. The pics are not very good. A vase of Peach Cupid miniature ball. The same vase of Peach Cupid on the bench One you do not see on the show bench now. Hillcrest Albino, medium semi cactus. Kenora Challenger, bred in 1991 and still the No1 in its class Hamari Gold.

For anyone interested a little piece of history, the first time the Brockenhurst Trophy at Southport Show (best in show for trade exhibitors) - a splendid gold cup - was awarded to a flower grower, Stuart Ogg's Grove Nursery, in 1963. Here it is displayed at a NGS open day at the nursery.

Interesting and always great to see pics. The cupids have been in my opinion ideal starter dahlias for the novice grower because they are easy with rewarding results. I havent grown for a few years, since the Jomanda's came about. I always preferred Wootton Cupid and Peach Cupid (I tried several others), grown single stop, 10up, no size problems. Take care, Paul

I remember when I was a young lad, my mum used to dress me and my 2 younger brothers in identical clobber.
One of her favourates was a yellow and black jumper, yes we looked like 3 wasps buzzing about in our street.
Oh those were the days !!
