I saw a clump of seedlings in the front patch, there are a few plants around it ( Anemone Blanda, Snowdrops,Phlox, Hellebores) so i have no idea what this seedling is. It has a wee nodule in the middle of the root and the seedling is very wiry and strong. Any ideas?

Not 100% sure Rosie. Why not let one or two grow on until you can id them?

I suppose they can be if growing among other plants and not getting much light, I'll have to pull one up and check its roots, the node you have spoke off in the picture would suggest something more legume wise that fixes nitrogen like birds foot trefoil

It is indeed Blanda. I was working on another bed and i found some of the same seedlings, the only common plant between the 2 beds was Anemone Blanda, so i reckon it is sussed out ;D ;D
