You can take cuttings, but they are very slow growing and hard to strike. I used to take mine during flowering time when I was given a bunch every year. I took the flowers off and grew them on a windowsill. I just enjoy the plants I have now, but still grow Daphne mezereum from seed. However, it is still a good time to take a cutting from your friend. I hope you are lucky.
