Well done mate. Just to get in the cards at a national is an achievement. The journey sounds typical when you just want a quiet uneventful trip.
Question on straightening stems: all I do is hold the stem crefully and run hand down the length of the stem exerting light pressure where required. You can't straighten a 'Distorted' stem, only one which is bent out more than normal and even then it can be tricky. I have snapped many a good one with my version of the Heimlech Manoevre

Thanks for all the comments. Must admit I got more pleasure out of this years show than last years when I got a couple of firsts. Now I know the pitfalls of a long journey, and am better at arranging, I can get better organised should I go again. Only trouble with missing a few days tying up is that they've gone all over the place, so I've spent most of today trying to get them in some sort of order for Wem Show next week. Will sort out photos tomorrow.

Checked the photos from Harrogate and they weren't very good. However, it's Wem show tomorrow so I'll take photos a lot earlier and hopefully they'll be better. As I said, some serious straightening of stems required but if all goes to plan I'll be entering 3 vases of 6, 2 vases of 6, one vase of red, one of any other colour, one vase of mixed. Blooms look nice at the moment, just wonky stems, and the length has reduced quite a lot with all this intense heat. Cut about 60, but there is just nowhere to store them to keep them cool. Hope to enter one vase of pink seedling and one of maroon in the 3 vases. The mixed vase will be all seedlings. There's a really dark pink one, white, cream, mauve, a pink with white base, and a lavender flush one.
