This years early show, sat 28th and sun 29th June, will be at Frosts garden centre near Abingdon. Sounds like it's a good venue so hopefully will have one or two vases to enter. May also encourage a few extra exhibitors like sweet pea

Week to go. Mine have been flowering about a week. Seems to be a bad year this year. Bev Chislett, who won the 12 vase at the nationals a few years back came round this morning to have a look and said his are only just starting to flower. Same for a few other local growers. I lowered them on the 6th June and they are now growing away nicely up the stems. Still very vigorous and good stem length. God knows what they would have been like had they flowered normally.

Good luck Scrumpy. You getting fours now? My usual first flowers tended to be threes, even the occasional one and two but they soon settled down. Can't say I've lowered or layered this early but as I'm not doing anything this year I don't have the problem

All fours now. Just got to send in my entry. As they are all seedlings, most of the entries will be in the vase of mixed throughout the divisions. I may be lucky and be able to do 3 vases of 7, and a couple of individual colours as well.
White, Pink/Cream, Cream, Lavender and Sir Jimmy lookalike have come fairly true.

Cheers, just finished over the allotment and the extras I have down there are flowering now. One or two look very promising.

Cut them last night, got most done before the rain came. Pictures don't give too much away but over 100 there. Not sure what will go where, but if they survive the journey I should get at least two good vases.

I like you transportation containers Scrumpy. I used to use Fairy Liquid containers in a milk crate sometimes with wire mesh to help separate the blooms. Tried going dry only the once and found it too much bother with all the preparation. It did work though and gave good results. Found it simpler (for me) to sort out the different classes the night before a show even if it meant being up most of the night but it did save a lot of time at the venue. Good luck all the same G.

They are lovely scrumpy. Did you not grow a blue? All the very best for the show.

Thanks for the comments.
Just got back. Had my best results ever. Got 2 firsts, 2 seconds and a third. Firsts were the white ones, which got best vase in section. There were 55 vases in total in the section, so really pleased with that. The other first was my Sir Jimmy Shand lookalike, which was in the running for best vase too.
Seconds were my pink/cream and the mauve ones. There was a little variation in colour which marked them both down.
The third came in the vase of mixed.
My 3 vases of 7 looked OK ( Lavender, cream, majenta) but my lavender vase was a bit weak.
I also managed to stage a vase of 15 mixed.
All in all, really pleased as the seedlings held up well against the tried and trusted varieties, so it's given me a bit more incentive to persevere. A bit or careful reselection and hopefully we can get rid of the colour variation.
Will post pictures tomorrow.

Congratulations Scrumpy. What excellent results. The names would be good. I thought the dark wine could be Windsor.
