Ordered a dinner plate collection from Woolmans (Sir Alf Ramsey, Grand Prix, Café au Lait, Vancouver, Expolsion and Cambridge.). Well, it arrived today and as I excitedly opened the box, guess what, not a single label in sight . Called them, to ask how I was supposed to tell which ones which!!! Yes, she admitted, that could cause a problem if you wanted to display them to a colour pattern . Talk about dumb. I've now got to wait for someone senior to contact me to resolve the problem. Oh well

Oh no! Perhaps you should have stuck with Halls of Heddon @markymate. I always think of Woolmans as suppliers of chrysanthemums for gardens. I hope you get another set with labels.

Won't be using them again Cherry. I only wanted Sir Alf Ramsey and Grand Prix, but rather than 3 tubers for £6.95, you get 6 different tubers for £9.95, so it seemed a good idea at the time . I like to order dahlias from different suppliers. So far this year, I've ordered from, Halls, Ridgeview Nurseries, Anglia Bulb Co, Riverside Bulbs, Ryecroft Dahlias, Woodford Dahlias, Graines Baumaux and the National Dahlia Collection. Once I get better at growing them, I'll cut back, and only use the best suppliers. Especially if I do decide to show, I'll have to cut back on my garden displays, as I won't have the room to grow so many different varieties

Now potted up just over 400, 120 still on the heated bench, waiting for them to root.

Crickey, that's a lot Tel, I've got about 60, and none ready to pot up just yet . The first batch, dampened off, so a bit behind. On another note, I've just joined the Essex Dahlia Society. It's a bit away from where I live, but there's no other society nearer. The wife thinks I've gone mad

Thank god for that. I thought it was just me Tel After all these years, she now realises she comes second to the dahlia's. She said that not me, but who am I to disagree with her.

I was hoping someone else on the forum might be a member. Are you going to the plant sale this May, Candyblue. I've been in contact with Alan Taylor, a what a nice man chap he is. The new website is up and running, with bits still under construction. I joined for the same reason as you, there is nothing in Hertfordshire, and I couldn't find anything in Bedfordshire. Where abouts are you based, I'm in Welwyn Garden City.

Oh, Candyblue. I've just seen your photos from 2013 season thread. Wow, what lovely blooms, and the giants, which are my passion, look beautiful. And having looked at your profile, you live just around the corner, maybe we could swap ideas, well, not swap, as I know so little, I'd have nothing to swap with .

Our allotment where the dahlias are is in hitchin , this is our 4th year and we are just picking it up as we go along. I must look at their website and see the updates. Not sure if we will be going to plant sale as just ordered 61 plants from halls as our tubers for cuttings are very behind due to having no heat down allotment but we shall see Nice to have someone a bit more local!
