Very nice flower there Moonlight. The pink blush looks as though it may hang on on the tips of the petals.

Moonlight, there is a plant that I think your girls would find quite fascinating and it is very easy to grow from seed. Mimosa Pudica aka the Sensitive Plant. Not much too look at but when you touch a leaf it curls up right away. All the roadside verges in Malaya were covered in it when I was there and it really does fascinate you because of the reaction to being touched. I know Chiltern Seeds stock it.

I found out a couple of days ago that I had used up a lot of Garden Friend file attachment space so I'm going to try and go through this Diary and if I can my original Diary and remove the photos that I had attached. I've just done Page 1 and it has taken ages searching for the photos and I was only looking for 2.
So if you notice lots of edits stating:
Removed and replaced image :-)
That's what I've done.
Well I've done page 1 and I've got about another 35 pages to go... It's bringing back a lot of memories. I might bore you with a gallery one day.
Anyway I have updates to make but I think my priority must be to remove my photo attachments, so if I end up less chatty then usual that's probably why.

Mental note to listen more.
When my Father says: "You need to pull up those weeds" "You are going to need to spray those weeds" "Have you sprayed your weeds yet?"
He means sort those weeds out NOW (or you will regret it)
He knows what he is talking about. I think maybe I should pause for thought when I'm about to ask a question - a lot of time he is telling me something that is important.
Mental note to listen to HH more.
He's been checking the weather reports because he knows that I am desperate to get more manure mulch down but it's been too hot. He told me yesterday the best time will be to get up and do it first thing. I was wet and damp but to be totally honest I faffed about and now that it is getting hotter I'm outside weeding - no point mulching on the weeds and I'm going to end up watering before I mulch now anyway.
I must learn to listen and process what people are telling me. I've just come in dripping in sweat after finishing to the best of my ability the bed along the cabin that is difficult to get behind, especially now that the plants are bigger.
Hindsight is one thing but please brain, please memory, listen and learn - that I must keep on top of the weeds right from the start next year.
I've been getting really stressed out about disbudding the right number of buds and I should be thinking about the bread and butter stuff.

Freshly manure mulched Left to Right: Clearview Audrey, Ryecroft Zoe, Ruskin Myra (not yet blooming), Oakwood Goldcrest and Clearview Jenny (not yet blooming)
I'm happy with it, I've had to be quite heavy on the manure between the cabin and the dahlias to suppress the weeds. I've had both girls walking up to the edge to try and push it down lower than the cabin. I'll get them to do it again tomorrow.

I'm having to be very careful of Fairy because I don't want her to feel upset that I do things with Pirate and not her but the thing is Pirate really wants to and Fairy isn't so keen. When they are both in the garden playing, I'll call her 1st so that I can explain what I am trying to do so that she understands. I know that there have been times when I've asked her to do something because I don't want her to feel left out - but she isn't aware of what I need. If I say can you pull the hose a bit nearer, she'll do it but not be aware that she has yanked it so that it comes stressfully close to hitting a dahlia plant. Then I have shouted and she's gone off in a huff because I had said pull the hose and she had pulled the hose.
It is easier with Pirate because she has been a helper helper more often. So I've been really trying to explain why I am asking her to do something or to see how Pirate is doing something and then giving her own part of the task. Pirate did the main squash along the length of the cabin but I asked Fairy to do the part that sticks out (she also went along Pirates bit Don't blame her, I probably would have done the same.) Mind you she then got upset that her clogs had got all wet and sticky manure over them. (She couldn't find her wellies)
As it was neither daughter had wanted to take their flip flops off - well it is (supposed to be) Summer Mummy... (I am sure they are thinking)
