Thanks you for all my Happy Birthday wishes.
I was walking home and the penny dropped, some people might not understand what I'm talking about with the whole bikini bit (or get my sense of humour). I'm one of the people here who have a go at entering flower shows. To best of my knowledge (with the exception of those people making a flower arrangement or those that exhibit pot plants) rather than a vase, exhibitors such as dahlia growers, use a standardised vase, to make it fair for everybody.
I found out by reading one of the dahlia threads that you call these vases bikini vases. I think because there is a top and a bottom like you have a bikini rather than a complete vase. This means that they have a sturdy base but are easy to pack. As I said I entered shows for the 1st time last year and I found it really stressful putting a vase together. So dahlia wise or any other plant ways, if you asked me what I really wished for it had to be a bikini vase, so that I can practice putting dahlias in a vase.
It is all very well for me to mention that is in my diary when a lot of people don't read the diary threads. (Trust me you wouldn't catch me in a bikini.) I thought that I ought to explain and I hope that that makes sense.
My bikini vases.
PS As a total beginner in all of this 'show business', anything that I've written in this post that sounds like a fact that I know, don't assume that I actually know what I'm talking about, still a beginner here. Lots of people here actually know what they are talking about. Clear as mud me.
