Hello again everyone, it's been so long!
I've an additional 3 gooseberries, 3 redcurrants, an additional 3 blackcurrants (even though last year's 2 didn't grow or produce), addition 4 blueberries to my pre-existing 3 and additional 15 to my pre-existing 8 raspberries. I also intend to get more strawberries.
I tell you one thing... no more cabbage planting for me!!!

lol I am a cross between both... so what does that make me? can't wait to hear what word you make up this time lol In fairness I grow more berries than veg but I do grow what I can in the line of veg in such a small space. Rosie, you're right, fruit from the garden is amazing. What fruit trees do you have?

Brilliant Tel, many thanks for that. This is going to sound a tad on the daft side, but when companies are selling pots and they give the pot size, I assume they mean diameter and not height? Same goes for books that mention the size of pot required? I always took it to be diameter but then I was reading a book and noticed them at different times just mentioning a size, then sometimes specifically mentioning height and other times mentioning diameter so I began to wonder.

It is usually the pots diameter.

I thought I would update this thread and show you what my back yard looks like to give you an idea of the small size I'm working with
This is the view of our back door. I've nothing in the window boxes at the moment. Although I normally grow salad leaves in them. Strawberries go in all the hanging baskets. You will see my unsightly coal bunker, bin and my nice new composters coal stacked to the side the 5 tin pots will have strawberries in them soon. I would like wall boxes put up on that wall that you can see, and some between the two windows, again for strawberries
You will see this is to the left of where the composters sit. That's where we keep all the logs for our stove, it's usually piled high but we've about a dozen blocks left so need a refill lol. We've those branches to cut up that came off a neighbours tree and we've more to get. So nothing can really be done with that area. I'm restricted with the shed because Harry's wee dog house is in there, hence the reason there is a hole at the bottom of the door lol the reason he has a bright pink satin curtain on the wee door is because May Day a couple of years ago he was scratching the back door at silly o'clock on my only day off in SO LONG so I took the head staggers, got up and nailed that up lol works amazing but he's fab at doing 'Tonight Matthew' lol
So this picture is the left of Harry's Shed and the right of my craft shed it has blueberry pots lined up at the left. Although I will be moving them soon as the raspberries usually go there. All the pots need rejigged. To the left and at the fence/gate is nothing at the moment. I will be planting them out soon. The bottom shelf is tin pots with soil in them ready to plant salad leaves and herbs. The next shelf up is potted up with 1 year old Laburnum Trees I planted last year from seed. You can just see the wee bird house to the left of the fence. I would like a hanging basket above the shed window as that part of the window doesn't open. I would like either shelves or a hanging basket or something on the gate as we don't open it often and it's a waste of space in my opinion otherwise Also behind Harry's Shed is where we will most likely put the water butt when we eventually get one.

This is the view of my craft shed (and laundry in one corner) As previously stated, the pots on the ground don't have much in them. One is a young blackcurrant, one is a young plum. The others are empty as far as I remember lol, maybe a chilli or two from last year. The shelves don't have much on them at the moment either, I usually have salad leaves in the boxes and peppers in the pots. There's two wee cuttings from last year growing on there too. Thinking of taking that shelving down actually as OH fancies getting me a wee plastic type greenhouse that would sit there nicely against the back fence.
Clearly, this is the front of my craft shed, showing both bird houses. The right part of the window that doesn't open is where I'd like a hanging basket hung with strawberries in it. This also gives a better look at the young Laburnum Trees.
This is the small part between our kitchen window and my craft shed. With the shelving down from the right hand wall and the old gas house away from the back left that is no longer in use, we would have good room for a greenhouse. Just out as far as the windowsill probably as I still like growing the chillies on the windowsill there as it's a sun trap in the spring/summer. I do have peas there that I tried that didn't amount to anything so need to dispose of those in the composter. I'd also like hanging baskets above and to the left side of the window for various things

This shows the view from the back gate. Carrots usually grow in the big blue planter. You can see to the right of that another one of my blueberries. I am going to try and get more hooks for strawberry baskets up on the Perspex roof timbers. Attachment Deleted
This shows another view of the bare walls round the windows. I'm thinking of as many boxes as possible for strawberries, but allowing growing distance between them and to allow the gooseberries and raspberries room to grow up too.
Just another view between kitchen and craft shed Attachment Deleted

Another view from Harry's shed towards the back door. My Father in Law made me that summer seat but I'm using it to pot up at the moment shamefully. That shelving to the right of the door will probably go into the greenhouse when I get it (although the greenhouse comes with shelving, I'm thinking that stuff I have is the same and would probably fit at the back of it. The pots infront of it have nothing in it at the moment.

Just wondering can anyone see any potential to my back yard... that I probably can't see. Something I could do differently etc. There's always room for improvement and as a beginner I am most certainly open to suggestions
