just to change the subject, I found out my thorn RESISTANT gloves are not CACTUS resistant. A rather large cactus and its offshoots was trying to escape from its pot which being plastic was much deformed so it had to be potted on to a much larger one. 'Ouch!' was what I didn't say but the air turned a nice shade of blue Anyway got the job done and I'm not noted for being masochistic. Yeah of course you only said ouch

Hope everything goes well for you sweetpea, that round trip would have been awful for you every day. I'm surprised that you didn't leave 'repotting the cactus' on your list of things to be done when you're in hospital!

Seriously though sweetpea , hope the treatment goes smoothly and look forward to having you 'back home' full time. I can't imagine you wanting to be in the hospital 1 second longer than you have to but the 'hotel' well that may be slightly more tempting (at least you can hide away from the cactus there.)
Garden Friends is always too quiet when you don't post. Think that is when you are usually up to something probably drafting another of your long joke posts.

Actually I don't mind being in hospital. yes I know, I'm mad as all the family reckon. What's wrong with being waited on hand and foot, being able to watch what you want on telly and believe it or not I don't mind hospital food although in this case I will be back on the diet and having to drink lots of water Yuck! plus that gungy stuff like milk of magnesia and tastes not very nice. Could be worse it might have been a military hospital which I was in for a week in 1958 and after a few days I was classed as walking wounded and had to push the food trolley round the other in patients. No sympathy there meanwhile looking forward to the forthcoming transit of mercury on 9th May. Knowing my luck it will be cloudy that day but keeping fingers crossed.

I suppose you not minding being in hospital makes it a bit easier sweetpea - and you'll have some method of communication with you no doubt. Going to write on calendar to remind myself about Mercury - thanks for info! Here's hoping it's clear skies for all of us

I've got a telescope sweetpea but no filter - are they expensive? I'll send you a link daisy for a solar film costs about £18 50 and you get instructions on how to make it. A bit like Blue Peter stuff but I made mine years ago and it does the job,

Well, we had the workmen round today to sort out some of the remaining jobs. had some walls painted and the new back door fitted finally after sending the wrong one last week. the new one looks fine but the fitted cat flap is decidedly smaller than the old one so it will be interesting to see if our fat cats can get through it. This diet I am on prior to radiotherapy entails lots of water drinking which I find difficult but apart from getting hydrophobia and being very tired due to all the night visits to the wee room. Just as well I'm allowed chocolate and chips though not at the same time I hasten to add. Might get the lawnmower out later if grass is dry enough after yesterdays downpours. Either that or tomorrow hopefully. Got so hot in the g'house so had to take top off. (my top not the g'house roof) Just as well the neighbours can't see :oI f I can't get my tablet to access the internet before I go I will be off line for a while. OK put the flags away Hope to pop down to town and get it sorted.

Hiya folks - sweetpea has asked if I'd update his journal for him for now - no doubt he'll be updating it soon. Well..he's fine is well pleased with the view from is private room which looks over the bay. The food is fine no complaints. So far he's had 2 treatments - he didn't mention how he was feeling after them but I'm sure he'll let us know how he's doing!

Today's little drama. Went common room where the kettle is to make a cuppa. Realised I didn't have a cup so down to ground floor to nick a cup from canteen. The minute I got back the fire alarm went off, what a racket so followed procedure and went down 12 flights of stairs to meeting point. (the lifts had been turned off so unable to use)I put my jacket on too as I thought we would be outside so a bit hot & sweaty. When the fire drill finished the lifts still weren't working so had to go back up on foot. That made me realise how fit I wasn't but us old bootnecks can do anything. ? Apparently there is a scheduled fire drill at 8am tomorrow. Typical that as I could have a lay in as treatment is afternoon then. Reckon I will get to the canteen and stay there 'til its over. Its a BIG place this hospital and I've already been round the block a few times trying to get my bearings? Can't fault it however and no grass cutting either. Thanks for all the kind thoughts all. SP
