...& I bet you didn't spend a lot of time there (the pub) sweetpea did you, even if you weren't allowed to drink much. It's good that hospitals are realising that having gardens & pleasant grounds is beneficial to people's recovery, I suppose it's just lack of money holding some of them back.

wandered down to the g'house as is my wont and while in there all of a sudden an almighty crash above me. Looked up just in time to see neighbour's cat jumping off the roof. I think it must have jumped from one of the trees behind. lucky it didn't go through the roof as it could have been badly hurt. While in there I noticed one of my old seed sown cactus had flowered. Will try a pic later as only just got my wellies off and time for a cuppa.

That looks like a lovely whopping big flower on your cactus sweetpea, is that a little hoverfly on it? The trailing begonia has pretty & interesting flowers too.

It does look rather like it but I don't remember seeing one at the time. The flowers do seem large but they only last a couple of days before fading.

Not been doing much on blog of late as internet connection keeps going down. Will have to change supplier soon methinks. meanwhile have resorted to my mobile wi fi gadget. Today is wet and miserable so been cleaning out the pond filter (messy job) and replacing the filter sponge pads. Some time ago I used 'Aquaplankton' to clean up the pond but it seems to have made things worse. certainly won't be using that again. Maureen wants me to build a rockery so will have to source some topsoil. got plenty of stone left over from when wall came down. have found a place via freecycle but it is over 20 miles away and some steep hills so not sure how much my car could cope with especially if damp. I overloaded the trailer once before and had to stop and take some off so don't want to repeat that. Meanwhile its just maintenance in the garden and waiting for the grass to dry enough for cutting. oh yeah, have more ripe tomatoes now and this time I am going to taste them

Today a bit of a disaster. Our lovely Liquidamber fell over. the ground has been absolutel soaked lately and what with yesterdays rain and some gusts of wind it muast have just keeled over and naturally blocked the path to the rest of the garden. Will try and take some pics before I remove it if it stops raining. it was a lovely coloured tree in the autumn and really stood out so will be missed. problem then is what to replace it with. Watercress comes to mind No doubt something will come to mind when the space is cleared.
