I cheated a little with my compost. Usually I mix my own for sweetpeas but decided to use ready bagged stuff. Multipurpose with added John innes although when I opened it there didn't seem to be much JI. Still, what's done is done and time will tell if it works out ok. Had some seeds from scrumpy last year which I didn't get round to sowing but all done now plus a few without ID. The ones i found later were Linda C. miss Truslove and Windsor so will do a few pots of them soon.

Got a rude awakening this morning when a scaffolding crew arrived to erect the scaffolding ready for the solar panels being installed on Monday. Naturally my frame with the sweetpeas in was in the way so had to move them all but they should be ok as long as we don't get a deluge. Hopefully I can move them back on tuesday or whenever they decide to remove the scaffolding. Had to rescue a small frog that one of the cats brought into the house. Put it down by the wildlife pond so it has another shot at survival. Spent some time trawling round buiders yards yesterday trying to match up the blocks and copings for the wall but no luck so not sure what happens next. watch this space!

Since last post we have had solar panels installed and the scaffolding meant I had to move all my sweetpea pots from the frame as it would have been under the scaffolding and not much light. Supposed to have been taken away yesterday but no one turned up. Typical!

On Wednesday the leaves were covering the grass so I raked them up into a line and went over with the trusty hayter harrier which resulted in lots of shredded leaves for the leafmould bin.

Did you get your panels on the green deal Jim? They really do work well even this far north

Another bit of autumn colour. The liquidamber. The leaves usually show more red but this year seem to be much darker. Oh and Yeah the scaffolding is now gone. So now have to get on with some sweetpea sowing.

When I had an allotment the council would collect all the leaves from the roadways and dump them on a bit of spare ground there so we all had a wonderful time scrambling for them.
