Maureen decided to change our internet provider and when I connected up the new router etc. I kept being told all was connected and ok but couldn't access the internet. Got on the help line and did everything again plus some other stuff but still no joy. They said they would get back to me but as we had to go out I don't know whether they did or not. Anyway it seemed to be working but apparently out of range for the wireless doodah. Had another fiddle with it and now got access Yay! However the various links as on the forum seem a bit iffy and sometimes work and sometimes not so will have to wait and see if it settles down or not. (Who said, Good, he's offline now?) hey, I'm not that talkative

Quick update: All sorts of problems with the new router but it seems to have settled down now. At the old phone socket it wouldn't work so had to use the socket where the line comes in from outside. It sort of worked but being a wireless connection I would get told it was out of range usually which meant no internet Popped into Currys to see if there is a 'booster' I could use but it was busy so i went back home as I had shopping on board including ice cream. Then went to Comet to find it had closed down back home I had a bright idea. Connect it up to a closer socket which is actually for the TV and it seems to have worked so I can come back and annoy folk heh heh!.......not really, you are all my favourite people.

Glad you are now sorted Jim. Even if it is after a fashion. I have a wi fi router but my desktop doesn`t pick it up so I have to use it like an ordinary modem. The laptop is ok with it though.

I don't know what was wrong with my computer yesterday. All the lights were on on the hub, but I was not getting anything. Today it is fine.

Cherry, do you know where the 'reset' button is n your router? Sometimes if I can't connect to the internet, I reset the router and all is well. This often happens after a power cut. I have a little wireless gizmo that plugs into a mains socket and boosts my wi-fi signal, otherwise I couldn't use my iPad or laptop in the garden room or dining room.

Yes I did a secondary start and took out all the plugs at the back so I could firm them in. We are getting good at it Geranium.
