It was too wet to work today, so visited the local boating lake and thought you all may like see some of the residents. Plus, an exotic visitor. Mute Swans Coot Moorhen Goosanders Cygnet (it`s parents are in the first pic) Mallards the exotic visitor, one for Cherry

Great photographs daitheplant. The black swan is mixed with white. I thought they were either one or the other. You are right, black swans come from Western Australia. The difference between the coot and the moorhen is clearer in your pics than in my bird book.

Thank you both. Cherry apparently Black swans are supposed to have white feathers also, as well as the bar on the beak. They used to be only in Australia and New Zealand,but they have been hunted out of existence in New Zealand.
