Thanks diggie this part of Cornwall is so mild too. I will panic no more! I have calmed down and placed a Mr fothergills seed order to keep myself busy today lol Hi Cat, Don't know why I did not mention this before. There is a blog on the internet written by Paul Fisher. Paul was a well known dahlia grower and lives in Cornwall. It is well worth reading and the section on lifting dahlia tubers may be helpful to you. I believe Paul has now given up growing dahlias due to ill health. Hope this helps. I was wondering what had happened to Paul....He is a member on here, but hasn't posted for a long long time. I knew he had health problems, his wife does/did too. Thanks for posting about him....

Lou is this the same Paul, had a look at this blog a few times. Very interesting and very specific. What struck me was how close he plants his Dahlias. www.paulsdahliaguide.info/index.htm

Cut down half of mine today will do the rest today and tomorrow . Will lift mid week . Some I dug straight out and in the bin like Marlene joy as I don't like it and every bloom daisy eyed . Good thing I noticed so far all producing reasonable tubers.

Its been horrible here will wait for a dryish spell mid November. probably bin a dozen or so of mine too,, not worth keeping. Make storage a bit easier too.

Its forecast heavy rain/high winds the next 3 days here Raymond so I wont be doing it this week. I am at the same stage as you though having roughly cut the tops down ready for lifting. I don't mind working in cold windy weather but if its bouncing down as well it seems a waste of time, you just make a right mess. I'll leave it another week reluctantly.

Lifted the last of my dahlias today. It's been interesting to see which have made tubers or haven't and their different types of tuber. I am going to store everything so Che can understand the process this year ( I know already some won't last as not made tubers) but I feel it is important for him to see this himself. Just glad they are lifted

Haven't started mine. Still got lots of blooms. Always feels a bit sad when they go. End of their mini era.

Got partially lifted on saturday. Had wanted it all done but been a bit under the weather recently. Ruskin Andrea made a huge tuber very happy. Zoe Sport smaller than I hoped but tuber all the same. Very pleased with the ones in pots have made excellent tubers and good size. Agm and tuber sale tomorrow so need to trim them tomorrow morning been washed and drying since being lifted. I made a right mess @davidv need to pressure wash the paths and patio soil everywhere ! Haha Cat which didn't make tubers ? If any I sent you I should have pot tubers I hope !

Nearly all lifted now. On the final stretch. All canes sorted and wrapped up. Pots emptied and washed out. Will be glad when finished and all put away for a couple of months as lots of other jobs to do.
Need to sort out and send some tubers to friends. Most made decent tubers bar the odd one or two like carstone suntan which is a shame.

Finished lifting today. So all drying . Necks screw drivered where needed. Starting trimming etc... Please I got a lot done. All the seedlings made nice tubers. Got some very nice winholm diane tubers a solid mass . Tel birkenshaw wyns favourite made a lovely tuber. Overall some lovely tubers especially ones in pots. Only a couple of failures and some a little smaller. Looks like I have some decent pot tubers as well.
