Robh.....bear in mind that if you take a cutting with a piece of the tuber attached...you will get no more cuttings from that area....

I took some more cuttings today, they might be a bit fat to root, they weren't hollow though. There are more coming which are thinner.
The cuttings I took last week are looking healthy still.

If they are not hollow, they may root ok but they will take a lot longer than thinner ones. How many tubers are you using for cuttings?

Sorry Tel, I missed your question. I have six tubers on the bench, three are growing away and the other three are just beginning.

I remember asking you how many I needed to put on the bench, I put those on the bench and then added a few 'just in case'. I think I'm going to end up with a lot of extra 'just in case' plants ;D

have set my dahlia cuttings away in the house they either rot from the bottom or the tips of the leaves are going black and frizzly the first one i presume is over watering the other am not shure they are in unheated props i have been to my garden centre and he suggested useing jiffys have planted a couple of them in this im not so worried because my mate will have 120 for me so its more a learning curve than anyhting else when can i put the cuttings that survive in the green house to harden off i wont be heating it

I think you will have to invest in a heated propagator, it is easier to root dahlia cuttings with bottom heat.
