I really do get rather annoyed with all this hype of 'Superfoods' etc. What a load of cobblers IMHO. Wonder how I managed to get through the last 70 years and still cope with all the setbacks that life throws at us. One minute we are told that spuds are bad for you, then they are good for you. The continental breakfast is supposed to be good also but for my money you cant beat a traditional breakfst such as the transport cafes serve up. At least it is tasty and nourishing. If I was meant to eat rabbit food I would have been a rabbit Dont eat pork, dont eat beef dont eat eggs the way the faddy brigade go on there will be nothing but fresh air left.

You could never bore me Louise I heard about it on the farming programme earlier in the week, apparently the weather has caused shortage and the price has rocketed. They did say that it contains lots of good vitamins. OH buys it and we like the taste so I'll try to grow some. I'm wondering if I should make some sort of butterfly cover. Essential I would have thought!!!

Oh dear. You really have joined the grumpy old men Sweetpea. You are not 70 yet. Fully paid up member now cherry ;D I'm nearing the end of my 70th year so in round numbers I am. Still only 21 inside though I think it is a sign of the times that so many 'Holier thn thou' merchants try to impose their beliefs upon us. Personally I will eat any food if I like it and sod the consequences. My body and common sense will tell me if I need to abstain from any food. All things in moderation is the way to go. Anyway to get back to the thread, I don't grow/eat brocolli very often.

I just love broccoli SP, any colour. I think I like all veggies. In fact, I just love food in general.

A variety I find works well is Rudolph....as the seeds are summer sown, and you harvest in winter, I find that you get the best chance of not getting it destroyed by the caterpillars - that's why I don't bother with summer sprouting - the pesky blighters eat it all If you do get infested with caterpillars, try spraying with a solution made up of lime, and soapy water. The caterpillars will die, and the plants love it....or do like I do, and run about like a demented thing with a butterfly net to get all of the cabbage whites!!!

Pickled onion and cabbage sandwiches would be ok then? No thank you. I am not keen on too much vinegar. Would not dream of putting it on chips.
