I think some of the blue ones tend to shoot up however hard you cut them joysie21 , one of mine shot up to about 5 foot last year! I pushed a couple of the prunings off mine into the ground & they seem to have taken as well. Wait.. what... you can plant the pruned-off twigs, and GROW them ?? It`s called taking cuttings Roofus.

Roses are really eases to grow from the stems you prune off roofgardener, if you just trim them off just below a bud/node on the stem & push them in the ground or a pot of compost & just leave them they usually root & you can transplant them to wherever you want them after around 6-12 months.

Thanks daitheplant and SueA, I guess I'll be pruning my Sisters roses in.. what... October time ? I'll save a couple-or-three sticks, and see if I can grow them in pots on the Roofgarden !
