Whilst it's hard not to feel sorry for genuine refugee's fleeing their country, the point I would make about asylum seekers is that if you are going to claim asylum, you do it in the first country you reach, and not keep going to get to the UK or northern Europe as many of these seem to be heading. Many of these people in Calais like those who've crossed the Mediterranean, appear to be economic migrants, and not genuine refugees. I don't have a problem with people coming to the UK either to work, but not to claim benefits or free healthcare.
