Its not bad but I want to get more, I have discovered a shop in Dufftown sells fossils and crystals. He has got in Cathedrals and one is citrine, I would love it but it's £300

I have a citrine crystal that I bought in Gregory & Bottley's in Kings Road, over 40yrs ago. It's small but it is the natural crystal form. rather than a machine facet cut. I also have two twinned augite crystals from the same place.

Oo they sound lovely dianthus. I'll try for a picture of my crystals and other assorted doo da's in my cabinet When we went to Fort William once I got my hands on a mahoosive Amethyst slice. I'm sure it was priced wrong as it was only £19.99. There is a fabulous place called Treasures of The Earth at Corpach near Fort William, needless to say I could bankrupt us in there

Rosie have you ever been to Creetown in Dumfries & Galloway? Very tempting rock & gem museum there, we went a few times years ago when we were on holiday nearby, Cherry will probably know of it as she used to live in that area. Creetown gemrock museum

Have a look at this website rosie.
I went round it last year and I could easily spend several days looking through their displays.

There used to be a lovely shop selling crystals in Ammanford, near here. I bought a few there over the years. It's closed now though but there's a very nice one in Cardiff, except it's a bit too far away at the moment with Beryl the way she is. I bought a nice Belemnite fossil there once, and also a small Ammonite. I'll take a photo of them later ...
I'll look at that site later on dianthus. It seems interesting.
Thanks for mentioning that shop SueA, I may send for something

I know that area very well and lots of people have lumps of crystal which are used as doorstops. I lived in The Stewartry near New Galloway. My daughter gave a beautiful lump of crystal to her friend in Kuala Lumpur as a wedding present.

I'm assuming quartz from a pegmatite, which is very coarse acidic mineral formation associated with granite intrusions.

Geology is for girls
It was a fight with education boards over 40yrs ago, for females to be allowed to be taught it at O and A-level.
Did she love it, Cherry?
