I think you mean Sweetpea dianthus ... but you'd be welcome to have some cuttings from me if you like

ron as you said the fuchsia & flowering currant are over 20 years old & were fine until this year it does sound as though putting the grass over the border may have caused problems & the grass is drawing water & nutrients from the plants. I think I would try lifting a bit of the grass from around both plants, I've planted an apple tree in our lawn & have cut a circle out around it, this is what I mean, I've just put some slate on it but you could use any mulch to keep the weeds down etc. :-
