steady JD its the 'Master' you are talking about hehehehehehehehe. have you got your erection up yet. I have heard it is a big one and will accommodate 3-400 NC IS TM ? No, no erection plans just yet. Have to wait for the tubers to be lifted. Will start to take down the wood frame work, and move my new shed as well. Lots to do before I even think about getting up .
Still working on the cryptic clue. Nothing like keeping the old grey matter working, don't you think

It's all getting a bit 'Da Vinci Code' for me JD, with secret codes, and cryptic messages! Either that or 'Carry on camping'!

Can anyone help me. I'm doing some flowers for my niece's wedding next year. Mostly, I've got what she has chosen, but I'm short of, Oreti Bliss, Tomo, and Tom McClelland. If anyone has a spare tuber of any of these, I would be happy to pay or swap.
Many thanks

I am growing pot tubers for next season. A cutting I took from Weston Pirate has produced a yellow bloom. My question is will this tuber continue to produce yellow blooms or will it revert to its original form. There is only one stem growing from the pot. Hi Diggie, (Only just seen the message) sports often revert back but yellow is quite strong in Western Spanish dancer so could be worth keeping. You are losing nothing by keeping it, you may find the cuttings you take may all be yellow or a mixture some as the original or all Western Spanish dancer. If some are yellow then its those plants that should continue to produce yellow blooms, so the year after they should be stable then all the plants taken after that should be yellow and stable you can then name as you like.
Good luck Ian

Perhaps the force is not as strong in me head!!! hahaha.
Finally got my soil analysis results from the RHS today. Soil texture is, clay/loam. Organic matter is 5.5%(medium). Soil pH, is 7.0. Available Phosphorus is, 69.6 mg/l Index level 4, high. Available Potassium is, 576 mg/l, Index level 4 high. And available Magnesium is, 147mg/l, Index 3, medium. Followed by a six page explanation, and then recommendations to improve my plot. All very interesting, but basically all I need to do is add manure this winter, and keep an eye on the magnesium level using Epsom salts next year. So now I'll have no excuses if I don't get the flowers right .
Right, now back to the TM NC IA AKA TJ. God my head hurts......help!!!

Soon be lifting time For once Cat, it can't come quick enough. Got so much to do, with taking down the wood frame covers, so I can start building the new polytunnel frame work. Plus getting a couple of jumbo bags of manure, and digging it in. It's going to be a long, cold, lonely winter up the allotment for me this year. Better get the wellies out .

Well, the first cut is under way. Both the outside two rows have been cut down to about 18" high, all bagged up and taken to the tip. Will be tucking in to the middle 3 rows tomorrow. Was thinking about buying a garden shredder, but having spent out on the polytunnel, I thought better of it!! I'll leave the plants at this height for another 4 to 5 weeks, having given them a last feed, to build up the tubers. So I'm aiming to be all lifted by the third week in November. Then it's a quick gentle rinse, I don't remove to much dirt. Give them about ten days drying under the fan, depending on the size of the tuber. Once that's done, it's into a bed of slightly moist peat, with an inch of the stem above the surface. I do this, so I can pull out the tuber during the storing period to check for any deterioration of the tuber. I've tried other ways to store, but this one for me, is the most successful. Should have some spare tubers if anybody's interested.

Not yet lifted my pot tubers. Will give them a high potash feed to ripen the tubers before I lift them in a few days time.
