ROFL... the final countdown - thanks daitheplant. And NOW...... A Special Announcement ! (click the pictures to see a larger version)
| The Owls are VERY excited about a special announcement !!.
Well... go on owls... tell everyone about it ?
|
| Roofgardener proudly announces .... "PEAK POLYTUNNEL".
But what does that mean ? Weeeell......
|
| ... it means I've filled my polytunnel ! Virtually every last seed tray and small plantpot now has seeds in it, and some have even produced seedlings. I've run out of...
- Plantpots,
- Compost, and..
- Shelf space ! (not just in the Polytunnel, but in the overflow greenhouse and the small growhouse as well)
A small accomplishment in the grand scheme of things perhaps, and one that all you expert gardeners would take in your stride as being routine, but I don't think I've EVER really been here before, and I'm DEAD chuffed about it !
Of course, the work isn't over. There ARE more seeds to plant, but that will have to wait untill some of the existing stuff has been planted out. (starting with some of the Onions next weekend).
Well... perhpas a quick tour ?
|
| Well, on the left, its mostly mixed bedding plants, all of which are supposed to be polinator attractors.
|
| On the right, bottom shelf, is mostly onions. (ditto on the rear 'bridge').
|
| The top shelf is mostly the 'mystery' seeds from KC, which are starting to germinate !!
|
| The overflow standing unit is some vegetables, plus salad stuff...
|
| .. and below those, the 'Erb Patch. (Oregano, Basil, Marjoram, and Chives.. with some Parsely lurking around on the upper shelf)
|
Well, thats it. Or IS it ? Tune in to the Onion Diary over the course of next week for some exciting Allium Adventures. And the Owls will be doing something VERY special next Easter Sunday, including...... ah.... but you'll have to wait for that

It does look packed Roofy & your onions all seem to be doing well. I can't help thinking all your trays & pots of seeds are waving their little name signs like the owls to attract attention, you could make a little stop-motion animation in there! I tried using lolly sticks as plant labels outside in the garden a few years ago but the trouble was we have so much rain that they just ended up going mouldy.

Are they about to lay eggs for Easter?
Did they find some fronds in church today, to make Palm crosses?

Most importantly Di. Will they be laying.................................. CHOCOLATE eggs? Roofus, if you put the watering can outside you could get a LOT more seeds sown.

You're getting warm, dianthus. And yes, I COULD put the watering can outside daitheplant, but then ... I've still run out of seed trays etc RIGHT... a slight change of pace. Upcycling Interlude
A little break from the relentless stories about seedlings !
| Every now and again people on my street will put unwanted "stuff" outside their gates for anyone who fancies it to take away. A sort of informal 'recycling'. Well, the other day, I found THIS little wooden cabinet drawer thingy on the street, and immediately snaffled it. |
| It's got two simple whicker drawer units, which are JUST the thing for storing my seed boxes in ! |
| But best of all... it fits PERFECTLY under my workbench thingy. How neat is THAT ? |
