Picking your brains here as usual . I`m after ideas to reuse an old chest of drawers in the garden . I have stripped all the thin plywood of the sides and back, leaving a skeleton frame which has been outside in the rain all winter so may be of no use now . I have protected the drawers in the greenhouse , The fronts are plywood and solid wooden sides with a thin ply on the base . I have 4, all differents depths. I am keen that what I make from them that they last at least 2-3 years .

If the frame hasn't completely fallen apart ladybird I'd be tempted to scrub/sand it & paint it with an outdoor wood paint in a pretty colour, paint the drawers & line them with plastic, fill them with compost & put them back in the frame opening them up with the bottom one pulled out furthest pushing in the higher ones to give a stepped look & then plant them up with something like herbs, succulents, bedding plants or whatever you fancy!

Thats a nice idea sue .I kinda wanted to make it into something radically different though. I had thought of lining a drawer and use it filled with compost in the greenhouse for salad crops but I really havn`t the space .

Waterproof the drawers, drill some drainage holes and use as mini coldframes. You could make lids from the rest of the frame covered in clear polythene.

..or you could paint the drawers & fix them to your wall/fence & use them to display pot plants in, like an auricula theatre. I used a couple of old wine boxes like that at our old house.

I found this picture Sue this looks nice . The drawers are very large so probably would need support surroundingsbydebi.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/old-drawer-flower-box.jpgI have lots of cold frames daitheplant but I could perhaps use on as a kind of nursery for biannuals , I never have anywhere to plant them while they grow . Thats two drawers down two to go . Need to thing of something radical, change of shape even .

Those are all great ideas, that first photo of grindle's was what I was thinking about in my first suggestion. That idea with the table base you have ladybird would look good too. I did think as well that you could maybe turn the deepest drawer into another hedgehog house or feeding station ( to put the food inside to stop cats etc. getting it) by turning it upside down cutting a small hole in one end & covering the top with a bit of roofing felt or similar. You could maybe also use the framework left from the chest of drawers & fill it with bits of wood, pinecones, rubble etc. to make a bug hotel, I did that with lots of the rubbish we dug up at the end of the garden! This was when I was working on it:-
