A wren made a nest in the engine of a Jabiru aircraft which was being repaired. When the engineer started it up, feathers flew everywhere. It is alright, it was feathers, not the bird and there are no eggs. A photo is going in to the Light Aircraft magazine.

I,ve seen my first evidence of nesting today.-A coot sat on a nest and 2 pairs of great crested grebes doing their mating displays.

It's going on all around us here, from the tiniest tits to the wood pidgeons !
Already here this morning is one of the (very many) linnets, it's usually a female so i think she's stocking up her reserves.

I have two blackbirds building nests in the pyracantha on the back of the house, blue tits are nest building in the box on the garage, and yesterday I saw a robin with a beak full of leaves and moss. ;D

It is alright, it was feathers, not the bird and there are no eggs. A photo is going in to the Light Aircraft magazine. A couple of days later, this nest had to be shifted into a box close to the aircraft at the same level. It had an egg by that time, but I think it is a lost cause now. The engineer was really sorry about this, but at least nothing had hatched and hopefully the birds will start a second clutch.

I always put out a couple of handfuls of sultanas for the blackbirds and thrushes and this morning noticed that one blackbird collected up a whole beak-full instead of pecking them up one at a time as they usually do, so I think it must already have young to feed. For the first time this year several nuthatches have been visiting my bird table Lovely little birds.
