JJ I tend to use Q4 and Calcified seaweed FBB is fine. I also use a scattering of chicken pellets I add a small amount of Q4 and Chicken pellets to the planting holes. Good luck and good fortune JJ

Not long now to planting out, how quick has this year gone already. One minute I was thinking I was well in front, and now I'm thinking, Poo, I've still got a few jobs left to do . Still, a little panic is good for the brain, or so I'm told!!
All 15 varieties, with 20 plants each are starting to be hardened off, plus another 100 plants on a trial basis. Must be honest, I'll be glad when they're in the ground, can least then have a week off, hehehe
Good luck to everybody growing dahlias this year.

I don't know how you guys who show your dahlias manage! I'm struggling to keep on top of the 40 odd dahlia cuttings/plants I have purely for our garden. How you keep on top of hundreds of them with the added pressure of getting them right for showing beats me, you must all be exhausted by show time!
Good luck to you all!

Hi Guys/Gals,
If anyone is finding space becoming a problem, and have any spare left over cuttings of any varieties at all, I would be very interested. I would of course, reimburse for time/trouble and shipping etc. I'm just trying to build up some stock, so as I said, I would consider any variety you have spare and would like to clear out.
Thanks

Nice one Steve you have a good memory remembering that. How are you doing my friend its a while since I saw you. If you don't think I am being cheeky have you just got a few Delegate, D'Amour, Winholme, Eastwood. Cream, Challenger, Trelyn, Suzanne and anything else you would like to get rid of as you always have far too many cuttings oh and some poms with it being close to planting out they will be good plants and we shouldn't have to worry about frost now. You can you bring them round for me or if you leave it until the end of the month maybe you could plant them out for me. Cheers Steve as I say hope you don't think I am being cheeky, I will make you a brew, trouble is my shed isn't big enough we can drink it in the poly and talk about other plot holders then especially him at number 6 or was it 5. Hope you have a good season Steve.

Hi Jay65 , sorry I have no spare plants , only spare are for pot tubers , will ask my allotment friends when we are having a cup of tea and moaning about life in our sheds ! . No worries. I was shafted a bit earlier in the season with some rooted cuttings I ordered from someone, and didn't have a huge amount of success with my own cuttings this season. So am a bit short on numbers here and there. And not everyone gets back to me when they say they will. All their tea drinking in polytunnels makes them very busy people obviously, Lol. Would be willing to pay of course for anything, I wouldn't expect people to give away something for nothing. Thanks

New plot all rotovated and Q4 incorporated. Ground tubes for polytunnel frame going in tomorrow, and lorry hired for Wednesday to get all the frame work up to the allotment. Going to be planting out in two weeks, so just about back on schedule. The new plot ready, just need to put ground cover over the planting beds. Polytunnel is going up on Wednesday/Thursday Managed to get the old plot rotovated before the heavens opened. Added about four ton of well rotted manure in February, which was plough over to get well mixed in. Just needs raking over, and laying ground cover. Then putting up the polytunnel frame. Hopefully got the ground perfect after getting it tested by the RHS soil dept. Could be the best £30 I ever spent
