What size pots are best for tomatoes and cucumber in a greenhouse ? I always think I put them in pots that are too small. Thank you.

Grow them directly in the ground or growbags or as I used to do, ring culture which is an excellent way to get good tomato crops. Never tried it with cucumber though. If you must use pots I would suggest 10" but just shake up a growbag and tuck the loose end under and plant two Toms or Cucs in each with a sunken pot or bottle in the middle for watering into. I will try and take a pic of mine to show what I mean.

Thank you sweetpea. I was actually thinking of growbags earlier but since I've got a lot of compost to use up I thought I'd put them in pots this year again. I think I'll try growbags next year. I can't grow them in the ground because the floor is paved.

I haven't measured my pots Eli but I tend to use whatever I've got & whatever will fit in the spaces. I'd say they're between 10-15 inches across the top but I'll go & have a look later. I've got growbags as well with plant pots with the bottoms cut out in one & the proper grow rings which I bought years ago in the other.

if you look between the tomato plants you will see a plastic bottle bottom cut off and inserted into growbag for watering/feeding the cucumbers (2 per growbag) have a small pot inserted between them for watering and a climbing frame rigged up as well.

These are my mini cucumber & tomatoes in the greenhouse Eli, similar to sweetpea's set up but the growpots have a water reservoir around the outside of the pot you put the tom. in & you water into that. I measured the other pots & they're between 11-13 inches. The mass of leaves outside the greenhouse windows are the potatoes in containers - they've gone mad in the sun!

I grew mine in flower buckets from stores, nearly the size of buckets. The bottom was cut out of them and they sat in Growbags, 2 to a bag. There was room left in the buckets for compost to be topped up when they were rooted. They were trained up strong string. A beautiful sight!
