Many years ago I put some hair cream on but it was actually Maureen's hair REMOVER stuff. Luckily for me she noticed and I hurriedly washed it off then she was tidying my mop and put a few hairgrips on while it dried and I forgot about them and gaily went off to the snooker club none the wiser.
It was only when the guy behind the bar asked about them did I realise but we had a laugh about it.

I would have said nothing...honest😁
