Decided to get some weedkiller to combat mainly dandelions in places where I cannot dig them out. I was quite surprised to note that on the Roundup spray container it said, NO GLYPHOSATE I noticed same on other weedkillers. Now correct me if I am wrong but surely Glyphosate is the active ingredient in these weedkillers so how are they going to work now? Anyway I sprayed all the ones I could see yesterday so time will tell if it works or not.

I must be naive because I thought this was as the weedkiller which caused the least damage to the environment when used with care.

I must be naive because I thought this was as the weedkiller which caused the least damage to the environment when used with care. The world health organization thinks it is carcinogenic and it has now been banned in many countries Cherry . I read that they were thinking of banning it here as well but not sure if its law yet. I wonder what they now use in the roundup and it is effective ? It's not cheap either.

From what I could gather Glyphosate comes in two different formulations. One very strong for industrial/professional use and another weaker solution for the home gardener but as LB says I think it has been banned by the EU Since applying it to my dandelions I have noticed some distortion in the leaves but no effects seen on some nettles I tried it on. Still, early days so will see how it goes.

I don't think I will be using it again as so far it has been a waste of my time, energy and money. The dandelions are blooming profusely so it is back to the old fashioned methods.

In Poundstretcher today I found Roundup WITH glyphosate in a ready to spray bottle. I didn't buy it but did buy another 'Total' weedkiller also including glyphosate and a couple of quid cheaper. Onwards and upwards.

I think my dandelions know what I`m up too and sending messages to each other They seem to be seeding in one day. I used a roundup gel on some of them but found to hard on the wrists but they do look "sick" . No results yet from the spray.I only do the pernicious weeds with the round up, then use the weedol for the rest, mush cheaper. I`m having to dig out weeds from the new raised beds though, no chemicals in there so far bu there is this horrible weed and the roots go everywhere , breaking off so easy too. I`ll post a pic in the problem thread when I get the chance.
