Back in the day when I used to exhibit at shows I some daffodils at spring shows as unnamed seedlings and did quite well with them. It started me wondering who can name a seedling? For example if I were to grow some seeds from a hybrid could I pick the ones I like and name them what I like? I'm not too sure on this so any advice welcomed. I also raised a number of sweetpea seedlings from crosses I made but never got round to naming them and all gone now anyway,

Naming other plants If you are interested in naming a plant from a particular genus, first check if there is a registrar, who oversees the naming of plants, for the genus of the plant that interests you. To do this, consult the register maintained by the International Society for Horticulture.
If there is a registrar, then contact them to enquire if they are able to refer you to any breeders who may offer this service. If they can help, the breeder is likely to make a charge for plant naming.
If you are interested in a particular plant without a registrar, it is more difficult to name a plant, but you could try approaching a nursery specialising in that plant to see if they could help.Found this on the RHS website sweetpea not sure if it's any good

Thanks for that grindle All sounds a bit complicated. Anyway a rose by any name smells as sweet or something like that. I will investigate however and see what I can find.
