That's a beautiful horse lesley was it one of yours? sweetpea that's a great photo, did you have the mass of blonde curls like your brothers? These are some of the horses near us:- These are in a field at the riding school here beside the motorway. In a word, 'No' My brother David was always known as 'Curly' and still is. Me and two of my brothers and one sister took after my dads side, not curly. The curls are from my mum's side of the family.

You look like you've still got a good head of hair sweetpea so the 'luxuriant' hair gene must have been in the whole family!

Jenny is a good name for a horse sweetpea. That is a really good photo and nice to share. My memories of horses are not too great. My grandma bought me one when I was 5 and I was too scared to ride it so she had to sell it. The other memory is when I made my youngest son pat an Exmoor pony and it bit him. Now he has been put off horses. I made him pat the horse because I was worried about patting a it.

Some of the names our ponies/horses and the one donkey we had were apart from Jenny: Irene, Betty, Stella, Gypsy, Flash, Nimbus, Blackhoof, Champion and the donkey was Neddy. There may have been others but memory fails. Jenny and Irene were gentle creatures whereas Flash bucked me off more than once and kicked and bit me, well more of a nip really. Betty was also a bit feisty so needed someone who could control her. Most of the Shetland ponies were quite docile and ideal for the pony rides on the beach. Been searching for pics but can't find any so asked my brother in Oz who is more organised than me to have a look.

You were so lucky lesley, I was one of those little girls who always wanted a pony but the nearest I ever got to one was riding the poor little donkeys on the beach at Blackpool. I was forever drawing horses & had horse ornaments & a toy donkey called Neddy (all donkeys must have been called Neddy sweetpea! ) I remember when I was about 9 or 10 & was at another girl's house in our street & her friend brought her horse round to the garden, it was an enormous black horse like Black Beauty (I was obsessed with that book & TV show too) & was standing there in a tiny back garden in a row of houses!

Sometimes the manure can react with air and become unstable and even explode! If you do use any make sure it is stable manure 🙂
