that's a shame SueA hope he's ok, I think we're lucky down here as the rate is low in comparison, I just think it's better to stay away from everything if possible, although it's difficult if you have children

Yesterday was the first day out of lockdown here and it was as if everyone had gone mad. The roads were very busy and there were lots of people everywhere. It was as if they had just been let loose. I have also been feeling caged in and had to go out but it was a strange feeling, I felt as if I was trespassing and shouldn't be there.

It's busy here even in the new lockdown Eli but then Greater Manchester has almost as many people in our area as there are in the whole of Wales, it was much quieter here in the first lockdown though when people were taking things more seriously. I went to the dentist yesterday for a check up & to have the broken tooth which had the abscess a while ago looked at, need to have it removed in December, then in the evening I got a call from them saying my appointment with the hygienist for this afternoon may have to be cancelled as Tamara's (hygienist) parents who look after her toddlers when she's working have had Covid tests & are awaiting the results so she may not be in. The care home around the corner has a new outbreak of infections & I bumped into 2 friends ( not literally we stood 2 metres apart! ) when I went to the shop & one told me a neighbour of hers had died of Covid & was unable to be put on a ventilator when he was taken into hospital as they were prioritising younger patients & he was in his 80s, the other told me a friend of hers in the care home has Covid. Hopefully this vaccine they've announced will work & is not just wishful thinking.

It does grindle although yesterday I did notice it was quieter on the road when I went to the shop, maybe people locally here have heard how bad our infection rate is - it was about 900 per 100,000 last time I looked. The dentist cancelled my appointment as Tamara's parents hadn't got their test results so she was unable to come in, her mum Miska is also a hygienist & used to work there as well until recently, I hope she's O.K.

That seems close to home SueA. I still think Manchester would be a great place to live. Of course, my Grandpop came from Bury, and when I was in my early twenties, I went to the zoo. My memories! I did not know my Grandpop was English until I prepared to come to Scotland.

it seems the rates are much higher up where you are SueA although the west country is slowly rising and we have more cases than in the first lockdown

I met another lady who lived across from us at our old house when I went to the shops yesterday & she was telling me that her son who has worked all through the lockdowns at B&Q locally has had the virus & recovered but said it left him exhausted, her other son's wife who is a teacher has just had to self isolate but her only symptoms are loss of taste & smell & her youngest grandson has just been sent home from school as his class have to self isolate, very worrying around here.

at the moment it's increasing by an alarming rate, we're 2 weeks into lockdown so should start to see an improvement soon if it's working

They've got confirmed cases in the local High School here & also Year2 off in isolation in the Primary school I went to so still spreading here, it looks like we'll be going back into Tier 3 anyway if the main lockdown does end when it's supposed to, I can't see people not visiting their families over Christmas though. It was my half brother's birthday the other day & I sent him a card & phoned him up , he's 74 & has COPD & he said shall we not bother with presents & visits this Christmas as he's worried about going out or meeting up with people, he has a friend & her daughter who get his shopping for him & hasn't been out for weeks.

it's scary, I can't blame him, it's still going up here, not in huge numbers, but far more than the first time
