Coastal Redwood garden-friends.co.uk/post/29622/threadSequoia Sempervirens. Not sure if anyone can remember Louises post almost 10 years ago now (link above) but I took up the guys offer and had one of these Redwoods, needless to say I have kept it in pots and after 10 years it is in a tub on the front around 6 foot high, it is tall enough to have a couple of bird feeders on it and we can watch the Goldfinches fetching the Nijer seeds from these from only a few feet away through the window, I don’t think I will let it get much bigger though 😁

Oh go on steve plant it in the middle of the front garden & leave a legacy behind for your neighbours to admire! It sounds as though it did respond well to living in a pot, it hasn't rooted out of the bottom & into the ground has it, I have a lovely 'Christmas tree' type conifer in a pot in the middle of our front garden, it's been there for about 10 years I think as we bought it for my mum-in-law & it's grown really well but I think it's now rooted out through the drainage hole as it's getting quite big!

I don’t know what to say to this. Don’t you get fed up watering this in the summer? However. If you put it in the ground you might have to move house.

I've got a Ginko in a pot, it's many years old but never grows much. I repotted it this summer so maybe it will now.

They strike very easy from cuttings too Eli That's good to know, at the moment it hasn't got any branches, just one vertical stem.

& I've got a Monkey Puzzle tree in a pot, had it years from being a tiny plant to about 3ft tall now, there are a couple planted in front gardens around here, lovely but way too big for the gardens!

No it couldn’t do that SueA the pot is standing on tarmac 😁 Gosh! I would have thought that might give the pilots a bit of a problem
