I can`t believe it. I live in the UK, pay my taxes to the British government and now we are alienated. No seeds, no plants, no bulbs ( I`ll not loose sleep over the bulbs ) are allowed to come here from the mainland . The final straw came when I read that Gardeners world magazine coming to N.I will not have any free seeds. I get kitchen garden and grow your own mags and the Feb editions which arrived early Jan had all the free seeds . It doesn't seem fair

What can I say ladybird ? Do you know any smugglers? I am sure there must be seed merchants in Ireland you could get hold of or even GCs with stocks of seeds available so don't despair just yet

It is definitely not fair. It seems NI is being punished for having a foot in both worlds - the EU and the UK.

There is "seedaholic" that I have purchased from before but the seeds is expensive and I had a lot of germination failures. thankfully I have more that enough seeds for this year and probably next . the magazines are only worth getting for the free seed, I wonder could I cancel my subscription due to the non seed issue

ladybird I cancelled all my subscriptions to garden mags some time ago Bridie. You don't need to give a reason but you tend to get pestered a little to come back. Too much repetition I found. What I do now is just buy off the shelf if I think an article might be interesting and of course there is so much on line stuff too.

I cancelled my garden news a few months ago after 10 years as I didn't even bother to read it anymore. I got a free electric propagator with the grow your own so that was well worth it and they usually have 6-10 pks of seeds free but there are only so many vegtables !!! i tend to look at the pics ( lazy reading my old teacher would say )

All is not lost. I have just read that the EC can grant " third country listing " for the supply of seeds and propagated materials to N.I. its a recognition that the EC is satisfied that a country meets the minimum standards to supply a product into the single market ( of course we are not in the single market anymore The UK government has submitted an application for it anyway so here's hoping.

Wonder what happens with wind blown seeds that cross the borders the natural way.
