Hi wonderto & welcome to the forum. I'm not a big dahlia grower but I would think if it's just the one stem which has broken off I'd just cut off the base & split the stem a little to enjoy the flowers on it in a vase & some of the buds may still open, there'll be the tuber under the compost which will still keep the other stems growing. It looks a large stem which has broken off, probably too big to try & get it to root, you'd have to cut off a lot of the top growth & flowers to try that anyway. Hope someone else on here can offer a solution for you.

That sounds good advice SueA. It appears to be a side stem which has broken off, so it should be fine with a few less flowers. Enjoy your dahlia.
