I have many perennials coming up around the garden. I can usually recognise what they are...and many have labels that I put in the ground in the winter. But there are two that I'm unsure about. Maybe knautia? or a scabious? Japanese anemone? or have you any other suggestions? If it's a weed I would dig it up...but it LOOKS like it's something interesting.... here they are...

It reminds me of Potentilla, but I am sure to be wrong. You should get lots of answers CPB.

top one looks like jap anenome and the second a geum of some kind. I have one of the wild geum and I dig it out.

I'd say the second one was a Geum - it looks like my 'Lady Stratheden'. Not sure if the top one is a Jap. Anemone - mine have a taller middle shoot, which I can't see on your photo.

Wow....you're good.... I did plant an anemone and a potentilla...and a geum....I guess I'll just wait and see what happens.
