balc2 while I was looking for a rose, I came across this which looks very much like your China Rose Rosa xanthina or Manchu Rose there is also a cultivated one called Canary bird, maybe this could be yours

Thanks, grindle for that beautiful picture of a rose like mine! 👍 I've also done a little investigation trying to identify it. I came up with the same species but being as it is from seed I doubt it will be Canary Bird as that is a hybrid, and we know hybrids don't come true from seed.

I think the species is more likely there seems to be a few places that sell the seed

My brother got the seeds from China originally. They were supposed to be mixed colours but as only one seed germinated and grew on we will never know!
