has anyone else noticed a lack of flowers? last year I had a lovely show of large flowered ones, not sure what they were the man next door bought them for me, this year hardly any came up and there were only 3 flowers out of 50 bulbs, could it have been the frost or something else, all the tulips I put it seem to be fine

No, Grindle - no problems here. I think we should post photos of Narcissi/Daffs on your thread if you don't mind - once you've got answers. What do you think?

Mine are just beginning to open but there seems to be plenty buds there, how odd Grindle. Have the bulbs grown leaves as normal?

I seem to have as many large daffs as usual, some are still coming out. The small ones have had masses of flowers but are jsut about finished now.

very strange, there's not even much green, so I can't say they are blind, in fact most of them haven't even come up. The ones that have are just a couple of leaves, now I'm wondering if they were diseased

That's a real shame. I do think you need to look at a bulb, Grindle - just to see if it's got 'the bug'!

sometimes shallow planting can cause that but not likely in this case. Very unlikely to be the cold, they are very hardy. Any streaking on leaves would likely be virus. Check the bulbs for rot etc.l

No problems with any of mine in the garden, I lost loads in pots and those that did grow struggled to produce even a few stunted leaves.
Could yours not have been planted deep enough to avoid the cold?

I don't have as many daffs this year either ....I have 2 pots that have very little foliage showing. The miniatures in the ground have been ok though ...~The tulips are ok though...lots of buds showing....a few weeks earlier than I would normally expect them

Can some body tell me how to get rid of daffodils in the lawn ? when we move in the top of the front lawn was all shrubs not good ones so we decided to have it lawn-ed not realizing there was so many bulbs in the ground, we've been mowing over them but they still come up or the leaves do. Is they any thing I can spray on to kill them with out killing the lawn.

They will disappear in time Lesley. I had to get rid of rhubarb by mowing it when we moved here. It interfered with the washing line. I have circles of daffodils in the grass and husband tries to reduce the number every time he mows.
