We were having coffee by the pond today when a grass snake swam across in front of us. It is good to see them back again. The OH went to find it but it had disappeared, how can two feet of snake just disappear?

I really don't want to see any snakes in our garden again If you don't do snakes I can imagine it's very unsettling. I love them and am extremely proud that they breed in the compost heaps each year.

We get the odd one or two here but, when i was growing up my sister and i used to play in a park that was opposite our home and over there we used to see dozens of them - all over the place ..... ahhhh those were the days ;D

When we built the extension to our house the grass didn't get cut for a while - I went into the garden one day and there was a huuuuuge grass snake with the legs of a frog hanging out of its mouth sitting by the pond That summer our frog population went down from about 30 to 5 I have always been frightened of snakes
