Some good news and some bad then, Rosie! I've decided. I'm going to replace the half-dead Cistus. Cutting it back to the small amount of remaining green leaves would look very silly so it HAS to go.

I was disappointed about the Beschonaria Geranuim as i bought that about 4 years ago from a nursery in Cornwall when we were on holiday and it's been fine up until this winter

off to Harrogate spring fair on sunday so hopefully I will have plants to go in instead.

Hope you are going to take some pics for us Seaburn....I am resisting the temptation to go to Harrogate this weekend My Dianellas have gone too......am surprised my Libertia is still alive though. I have a tender Hebe that I am amazed is still alive and a pittisporum I thought would "go the journey"

Oooh - lovely! A show with lots of Nurseries. Bliss! I tried to find a replacement Cistus today - plenty of white ones, 'Silverpink' too - but I want a pink one, and I already have 'Silverpink'. Oh well. A good excuse for another trip out. Lou - how did you manage to keep your shrubs alive?

Were your Dieramas in a reasonably well drained spot SPG ? I've three that seem to have survived though the leaves are brown. Have yours gone rotten?

Good fortune rather than good management Geranium ..No I think its because we are right on the coast....frosts don't get so penetrating for any length of time here

Seaburn my Libertia is fine but tiny and all the Dieramas look good. The garden here is very exposed, so I don't know the reason for survival.
I have lost the Roscoea though and this is upsetting as it had reached a good size.

Lou, a plant like that leaves no trace, so no wonder you forgot about it. I am going to have a dig.

No Roscoea, yet the Trillium which is only feet along from it is fine. I don't know whether I should replace it. I may, because that is a pretty garden. I dug down but there was no trace at all.
