PS. Sorry...I got your name wrong. Take pity on me ... I'm a newbie Nothing new about her I've still got the scars from her whip Actually that show looked very good and thanks for the pics so we can view it too. re Malvern show. When is it and I'll see if I can fit in a trip to daughter's at Cheltenham though whether I will manage the drive is another matter.

It was a much smaller show than Malvern or GW Live (the only others I've been to in the past) and I enjoyed it temendously...we only had 5 hours there and it was just enough. The sculptures were astonishing, too big for my little garden...I would have loved some of the smaller pieces but my funds wouldn't stretch that far. I bought a hefty piece of tree fern (dicksonia antactica) at a knock down price he's called George and atm is sitting in a large pot of peaty compost in the GH. I will probably keep him in a pot for now so that I can protect him in the winter (having lost 2 plants over the past 2 winters) Yes, that's a variegated daphne Cherry...I've had a yen for one for years but they were always too expensive in the GCs here...this one was only £12.50 a bargain! I bought another heuchera similar to 'kimono' but with a more delicate leaf...the labels got waylaid for that and the daphne but I will hunt them out! I also bought 2 epimediums....'merlin' and 'pink elf' and an aloe polyphylla (been after one of those for yonks, on the mature plant the leaves grow in a spiral) I'm jolly pleased with my haul.

Is the Dicksonia one of those lopped off logs or did it have roots? they throw roots out very quickly anyway

One of mine started like that and it is bedded out now very solidly rooted, it was a relief this year when I noticed the croziers growing

Yep. That is a fine daphne. I have never seen the gold margins stand out so well.
