After all your help/suggestions I've finally gone for a Patio Rose 'Wildfire Fryessex' OK it wont flower 'till late Spring but when it does it'll flower for months. I'm expecting the Magnolia soon and as it should be ok in my soil I'll plant it out in the garden.

What colour is it, Merlin? I'm glad you've got your pot sorted

It's sort of orange/flame Geranium, the other is nearby and is yellow. Should warm up the yard. I've invested in a lot of Shrub/Rose compost so they ahould do well.

Sounds lovely, Merlin - looking forward to seeing it in flower now. All my roses have buds, so it shouldn't be too long.

Hopefully I'll be proud to post a colourful pic but I recon yours will be in flower long before mine.
