Well I've pruned my Fatsia by a third, and on two of the stems was able to prune back to where a new baby shoot is emerging. Also noticed two new tiny shoots at ground level. The frost affected stems were the tall ones which stuck out above the level of the surrounding shrubs, so I reckon that was why the frost got them, but underneath the brown frosted bits new shoots are emerging. It looks a lot better already. Next spring I'll prune the remaining tall stems and try to keep it no taller than the nearby shrubs, so it has some winter shelter. Thanks to all for your comments and advice

Well done, Peony! That was brave, but I'm sure it'll do the trick for you. Did you feed it?

No ran out of time Geranium, I noticed that the variegated Eleagnus had quite a few plain green shoots, so pruned them out, and cleared some overgrown ivy off the back fence, then my daughter rang and by the time I'd finished catching up with her news it was too late. But its the first job on my list for tomorrow ;D
