I enjoy music but even more I enjoy birdsong. This morning I'm trying out my first hearing-aid. Even though I'm in the living room listening to R4, I can hear birdsong from outside. I just popped out to feed the chick and it sounded like the birds were on my head. Wonderful The downside, a tractor just went by and I though world war three had started !

I don't wear mine but when I did it was deafening at times. Even dripping water got very magnified. I only got mine as I found it difficult to understand the actors/actresses on TV, particularly the American ones. As I can understand OUR newsreaders perfectly well I have come to the conclusion that yanks cant speak properly. Some of them might as well be speaking double dutch for all I can understand.

I think I will keep shouting "don't mumble" at people for a few years yet ;D Good for you WF, hold on in there. I'm not old but to function properly I'm more and more reliant on inserts, bits of wire and plastic but if I keep taking the pills I'm 21 still ;D

That made me laugh. I have got to the point where I wear my glasses all the time now. It is just easier and I know where they are.

Good luck with your hearing aid Ron Grumpy has two...and won't wear them He gave up after a couple of days, said he couldn't stand the noise So now I have to shout at him all the time, run in from the garden to answer the phone cos he can't hear it, and email him when his dinner's ready

We can hear aeroplanes and adverts on tv, but not the string section of a orchestra bees or birdsong. I'm going to persevere and I'm thinking of attending a hearing 'event' at a local hotel to compare private with NHS. I'll email you if I think Grumpy is missing out though he's probably already realised that there are occasions when he's better off without
