Just when you think all's well something comes along and spoils it. I hope you'll be able to cut out the affected parts. If you can keep it going this year you should be alright next year according to Google. I had a similar problem with a Damson years ago.

Just found I have this disease on a plum tree, what a weird thing it is Well they need somewhere to keep the pip/stone don't they ;D Thing is the fruits have a hollow centre (pocket) but no pip or stone! being a young-ish tree I have picked all the deformed fruits off before the spores complete the cycle so nipped it in the pocket ;D

Still a young tree Merlin, Golden Gage, had a few last year which were ok and about a quarter this year are affected but I have picked these off and destroyed them, it's a similar pathogen to The Peach leaf curl fungus

Golden Gage, is that a Greengage? I haven't tasted one of those saince I was a lad. They were much nicer than a plum as I remember. I wonder why they're not so common as plums.

Merlin a golden gage is a plum. They are all plums, and I grow many different kinds. They are very popular in this area, but if you are just buying yours at supermarkets, you won't find them.

Still not sure what the difference between Greengage, Gage or Plum is. I do remember Susan Hampshire in the film 'A Greengage Summer', I'd like to watch it again but I'm on BT 'option 1' and haven't enough free space.

Not come across that one before. My biggest problem with plums was their suckering habit. I dug out both trees eventually. I was the only one in the house that ate them anyway.
