This morning Ofcom are saying that if we're not getting enough Internet speed we should "shop around" I live 5 miles from the nearest transmitter and get nowhere near 1 meg, how can shopping around help me? Are they refering to mobile phones?

You can get different speeds from different companies using the same lines. I don't know how it works, you will need someone with a technical head to explain that.
The OH's parents swapped suppliers to save money and their internet speed has dropped dramatically.
A year or so ago BT were offering a faster service to new customers, so the OH canceled with them and then signed up again and we got the faster service.

apparently new tellys have internet now so I wonder if the likes of BT can't keep up with demand. I'm with them and am reluctant to change, especially now after reading your post. I ve ordered two gizmos that plug in to your mains and transmit back down the house wiring to eachother to save using a dongle or cable. Hopefully I'll be able to show my pics on TV .....better than most progs ! unless JB is on ;D sorry Cherry

Somerset County Council is supposed to be getting a Govt. grant to get faster broadband across the County. Ours here is very slow, and there's nowt we can do about it until then.
