Macadamias are my favorite too. I bought the OH a walnut tree a couple of years ago, it is growing well but hasn't produced any nuts yet. I take it you have a large walnut tree Cherry? They are beautiful trees. Aren't you supposed to thrash it !

A woman, a dog and a walnut tree; the more you thrash 'em the better they'll be.
It is something like that.

We have used up the last of our supply of fresh walnuts thank heavens. I am not keen on them, so I made husband shell them and the recipe said chopped walnuts, so he did that too. I love macadamia nuts fresh, but they are expensive here. I use pecans instead of walnuts. A friend who was visiting me way back then gave me fresh macademia seeds and I managed to grow three seedlings out of ten. My trees are doing okay so far. I wonder if I should prune them though since they are all almost as tall as the telephone pole here.

I understand the second two but the first would result in instant death so I don't see the point

Yesterday I saw a really big fox near my back door. It was basking in the sun and ignored the two barking cockers and the cat with startled big round eyes. I took the dogs out and when the fox moved I noticed then that it was in trouble with one or even two bad back legs. It moved into the next field, which is still close, and sat in the sun. It has gone away now, but it would be no use calling the RSPCA because they would have to go over fields looking for it and may never find it. I really hope it is out of its misery now. It is only the second fox I have seen here.

Poor fox, they are lovely looking animals, but can be destructive if they get in your garden.

That is what I thought Peony. Rosie this is true, but we don't have poultry which would be their main interest.
The six deer seem to be living in my home fields and the woodland edges. Blighters!

That's a shame about the fox Cherry, we saw a huge fox on Friday which had been run over a mile or so down the road from us, I always feel so sorry for them.
